Metamorphic Rocks
Metamorphic rock forms from an existing rock that is changed by heat, pressure or chemical reactions.
There are two types of metamorphic rocks
1. Foliated metamorphic rocks have their grains arranged in parallel layers or bands. Examples are slate, schist, and gneiss.
2. Nonfoliated rocks have grains that are randomly arranged. Common examples are marble and quartzite.
